"Soul from Saint Denis", this is the motto proudly stated by Q-Sounds Recording, the only French label dedicated to soul music since 2009. It must be said that the founders L. Bors and Chris Thomas are from the Parisian suburbs : Montreuil and Sarcelles. They claim that the soul music heritage is written in these suburbs artistic traditions, where French hip hop was born and a stronghold of Afro-Caribbean dance and music. They also claim the values from these socially disadvantaged, despised, forgotten and very often mistreated areas: solidarity, perseverance, independence and respect for the given word. When the Zebrock Association, which works with students from the department of Seine Saint Denis in introducing them to the music world, contacted the label in order to collaborate on a project with an 8th grade class from Robespierre College in Épinay sur Seine, the answer was immediately yes! This vinyl is the fruit of this transmission in order to bring this artistic tradition from the suburbs to life, and to contribute to the pride of being originally from these territories.
